Panda Fu Bao was taken to his homeland – China. Nothing happened to the animal – it is returning home according to the agreement with Beijing. For years, the Chinese Communist regime has been practicing so-called panda diplomacy, building diplomatic ties with other countries by giving them adorable bamboo lovers to breed.
However, ownership of the animal and its offspring still belongs to China.
Fu Bao, a giant panda, has gained huge popularity in South Korea after photos of her hugging a zookeeper and refusing to let go went viral online.
Fu Bao, whose name means lucky treasure, is the first giant panda born in South Korea. Her parents have been living at Everland Zoo near Seoul for eight years.
All four-year-old panda cubs born outside of China are taken back by China. However, after saying goodbye to the giant panda, Koreans are not going to forget it – as they celebrate Fu Bao’s birthday every year on July 20, and some even plan to visit the panda regularly in China.
By the way, the number of pandas that have conquered the hearts of people all over the world is already growing – in July of last year, giant panda twins were born in the same zoo.
