After the wheels due to the yards jammed with cars – the answer: the nursery-kindergarten will not open the parking lot

Residents of apartment buildings in Baltic Avenue are indignant that the nearby nursery-kindergarten has a large parking lot, but parents of children are prohibited from parking there. Cars are left in the yards of apartment buildings, and then residents cannot find a place to leave their vehicle.

Both parents and residents are angry

Many kindergartens and other educational institutions do not allow entry into their territories.

The same procedure applies to the “Želmenėlis” kindergarten. At the entrance to the site, there is a sign that prohibits the entry of those who are not service personnel of this institution.

The problem cannot be solved for a long time. According to the director of “Želmenelis”, Laima Sireikienė, residents’ complaints have been received for several years.

“It is not the first time that we receive complaints that parents who come to pick up their children leave their cars in the courtyards of apartment buildings, and there is a shortage of places here. And the sign prohibiting entry into the territory of the kindergarten has been there for about 30 years, it was not erected by the administration of the kindergarten, but by the municipality,” L. Sireikienė did not hide.

The area is for children and we must ensure its safety.

As the director said, previously parents were allowed to leave their cars in the kindergarten parking lot despite the signs, but the parents themselves began to make claims that not all drivers follow road traffic rules responsibly.

“We decided not to allow parents to enter the area anymore, because the speed limit was exceeded, and cars left in an orderly manner prevented both employees and children from even passing on the sidewalk,” explained the manager.

The most important thing is the safety of children

As L. Sireikienė stated, it is her and other employees’ duty to ensure that the children in the kindergarten do not face any threat.

“The territory is for children, and we must ensure its safety. When the children go outside, the gate must be closed, we cannot know whether a dog will run without a leash and whether the child himself will not go outside the territory if the gate is left open. We don’t have an employee to monitor whether the gate is always closed,” said the director.

Employees’ cars are parked

The manager emphasized that residents often get indignant because employees are allowed to leave their cars in the parking lot of the kindergarten.

“Service personnel and educators can enter the territory, as they are also service personnel. We found this out by communicating with the representatives of the trade union. However, there are also some employees who leave their cars in shopping center parking lots and come to work on foot,” explained L. Sireikienė.

According to the manager, disagreements with the residents that have been going on for many years are being tried to be resolved in various ways by finding compromises.

For example, parents are asked to arrive on foot or by public transport during celebrations in the kindergarten, so that the courtyards of apartment buildings are not blocked by parents’ cars.
