The experimental music festival “Jauna muzika” starts in Vilnius on Wednesday.

Over five days, fourteen concerts will be held at the festival, performers and creators from Lithuania, Ukraine, Austria, Sweden, and Norway will appear, the organizers announced.

Many “Jaunas muzik” events are free. It will be possible to hear previously unheard works, see interdisciplinary art performances, and listen to the works of young electronic and spatial music creators.

This year, the focus of “Young Music” is on the creative process, birth, genesis. The idea is based on the idea of the British writer Ken Robinson: “Creativity is possible where the human intelligence is actively involved.”

According to the artistic director of the festival, Kateryna Alymova, the events will aim to reveal all the meanings of creativity.

“This year, we delve into the topic of creativity and the creative process, we explore the diverse experiences of artists. They draw inspiration from their environment, reflect, interpret and try to predict. The concert program will last for five days, and it guides us through the process, interconnections and transformations from the beginning of the piece to the prediction of the result,” she said.

Together with local and international partners, the festival organizes several creative workshops, the results of which will be heard and seen during “Young Music”.

“Jauna muzika” is one of the longest existing contemporary music festivals in the country, it has been organized since 1992.
