The science Facebook website “Weather and climate in Lithuania” announces that the signs of the return of winter on Wednesday were mostly only in the northeastern districts in the morning. It snowed in the morning in Vilnius, in the afternoon on the seaside, but the small snowflakes melted right there. And around Rokiškis, the ground was whitened on Wednesday evening. It also snowed in Molėtai, Zarasai district, Naujoja Akmene. In the evening in the Rokiškis district, it snowed so much that it was real winter. Dusetose was already sculpting big snowmen in the evening.

It will still snow on Wednesday evening and the following night. And on Thursday it will be warmer and drier.

“On Sunday-Monday, at least in part of the country, it should be like it is during the Lithuanian summer again. Warmth is expected to flow again from North Africa, bringing with it Saharan dust. Their highest concentration should also be on Sunday-Monday. It is likely that the air quality will deteriorate again (as some of the dust will reach the earth’s surface again), but let’s not jump to conclusions yet and wait until Friday at least, as these forecasts may change. Especially when it comes to dust,” the website says.
