It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your experience is, we invite you to participate in the competition and creatively reveal your approach to Lithuania’s membership in the EU and NATO. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and thoughts with the whole of Lithuania! Take part in the contest “Lithuanian EU and NATO membership: 20 years of success”! Share your vision!

“The last 20 years are years of success for our state and for each of us. Membership in the EU and NATO significantly changed not only the well-being and social life of our country, opened up immeasurable opportunities, but also undoubtedly led to a significant strengthening of our country’s security and resistance to external threats. So we really have something to celebrate and be happy about – we have a great opportunity to look back and assess the path we have taken. The achievements of 20 years are the result of everyday, often silent and invisible work and citizenship of all Lithuanian people, therefore this anniversary is also a celebration of all Lithuanian people”, says the initiator of the competition, Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balchytytė.

The numbers speak for Lithuania’s success:

  • the income of the population is growing: the average monthly gross wage since 2008 former EUR 671.9 in 2023 rose to EUR 2,018.2 at the end;

  • GDP since 2004 EUR 1332.6 rose more than 5 times – to EUR 6777.2;

  • direct foreign investments in Lithuania also arise: if in 2004 it was only 4,696.22 million. Eur, it is 2023. III quarter they already reached 32,693.03 million. Eur;

  • Lithuanians are getting happier every year: in 2023 Newcomer Lithuania entered the top 20 of the World Happiness Report – over the past six years, Lithuania has steadily risen from 52nd place in 2017. up to 20th place in the latest list.

  • since 2004 NATO air police missions are continuously carried out in Lithuania, 2017-2019. Battalions led by Germany and the USA are stationed in Rukla and Pabrade, and in 2022. due to the Russian war in Ukraine, additional US capabilities have been sent to Lithuania, a German brigade has been assigned to Lithuania, preparations are being made to receive the German brigade.

  • in 2004 243 thousand people lived in the country. persons with disabilities, but only 28 thousand worked. Meanwhile, in 2023 223 thousand people lived in the country. such persons, and 44.7 thousand worked. in 2004 there were 14,000 persons with disabilities provided with technical assistance, 243 housing units adapted for persons with disabilities in Lithuania, and in 2023 to provide 33 thousand persons with disabilities, there were already 692 persons with disabilities equipped with housing.
