Group members Nijolė Pareigytė-Rukaitienė, Ingrida Martinkėnaitė, Goda Alijeva and Karina Krysko appeared not alone in the filming of the show. They were accompanied by a special person – the founder of the group, Egmontas Bžeskas.
“Our beginning was in one modest studio. As I remember now, that wall on which “9 in the sky” was written with a thick black felt-tip pen. But we were missing something there. I thought that it was necessary to write down that 6 so that we would be even higher”, said E. Bžeskas about the name of the group.
According to N. Pareigytė, the group’s first concert took place in Rukla – that time the girls performed for soldiers. And their first earnings were just 150 euros!
True, for a long time, the girls performed only one song, called “Klausk”, with which they became famous in one of the popular shows at the time. As the members of the group who remembered that laughed, they had only two tasks in that show – to sing this piece and to sit on the laps of members of the Seimas.
Initially, the group consisted of three members – Karina, Nijolė and Ingrida. However, when Ingrid became pregnant, Egmont realized that it was necessary to find another member. That’s how Goda appeared in his and Nijolė’s sight.
E. Bžeskas remembered what he said to his friend Saulis Urbonavičiis-Samis when he saw her during one of the projects:
“I remember very well how Sam and I talked about Goda being one of the most beautiful women.”
And very soon, Nijolė also noticed Godas.
“We celebrated Bunke’s bachelorette party – we ran half-naked around the old town of Kaunas, but it was really fun. When I saw Godda, my reaction was the same as Egmont’s, that she was a very beautiful girl. When she came to pick me up with a white old BMW, she was sitting in it like a swan, with long hair… So after Bunke’s bachelorette party, we became friends. And when Ingrid got pregnant, we started talking in the group about the fact that we need a third girl. The kind that would be beautiful, already known and would fit into our group,” said Nijolė.
True, it was not so easy for Goda herself, who performed with the group “Yva” at that time, to join the group.
“69 in the Sky” was not jealous of “Yvai”, on the contrary, because it was a star that had just arrived in the world of the show. The image of the 69 in the Sky girls, the songs and the way they presented themselves created an image that they were not of this earth. Everyone wanted to be near them, take pictures, hear and see them. And in those days it seemed impossible to get them – they were very interesting. That’s why we used to talk with the girls, how they look, how beautiful their clothes are and the like,” said Goda.
It is true that, although the members of the group admitted that they trusted E. Bžeskus, it was not so easy for him to control four girls himself. And especially when they had to film somewhere.
“One thing that made me very nervous was that they always came with different nails and they were still shaggy,” he laughed, remembering now.
The group also shared very spicy details on the show. And Nijolė revealed that all the accidents she got into were together with Karina. Finally, even the fortune teller forbade them to go somewhere together! And, it turns out, later the girls began to seriously listen to this advice.
Many concerts were also inseparable from stress. Karina also told one story.
“It was very scary to go to a concert with burnt clothes. My car caught fire, and there was supposed to be a concert that day – the costumes were in the trunk,” Karina told the incredible story.
However, the curious situation did not end there. The girls remembered the case when Nijolė accidentally knocked out Ingrida’s tooth twice on stage.
“They were laughing and twirling, and I had to sing and work alone,” said Ingrida, now laughing herself.
