Historic event – with Lidl: as many as 11 children from Lithuania will accompany UEFA EURO 2024 footballers

Therefore, we are extremely happy to be able, together with UEFA, to give more than a thousand children across Europe the opportunity to be close to the continent’s best players and become part of the football celebration. “Lidl” has an important mission in the championship – we are partners of freshness, therefore we will actively promote and talk about healthy nutrition, choosing fresh, healthy products”, says A. Lidl is the official partner of the European football championship UEFA EURO 2024, which will be held in Germany this year. During the starting campaign, 1100 children will be selected from all over Europe, who will get a unique opportunity – to accompany the players to the field during the championship. For the first time in Lithuania, as many as 11 children will be selected – as many as make up one team on the football field. One child will be selected from the families of Lidl Lietuva employees.

Registration for the selection has started

Already from April 1 parents or guardians can register their children and win one of ten spots on this team. Children between the ages of 6 and 10 can be registered for the selection, regardless of their gender, origin, physical or mental abilities. In order to participate in the selection, the children’s parents or guardians must confirm their consent to participate in the Lidl Plus mobile app. Winners will be selected by lottery to ensure an equal chance of winning for all.

Marking the start of the selection, the young football players, children from the “Baltic Football Academy”, realized their dream – to play in the same team with Lithuanian football stars, who also actively contributed to the start of this project. According to the legendary football player S. Mikoliūnas, who recently finished his impressive career, the opportunity to strengthen the youth’s love for football is extremely important to him.

“Whether I step onto the field in one team with young footballers or as a player of the Lithuanian national team – I feel a great responsibility. I know that the example of us professional football players inspires many young players not to give up, to improve and to reach the heights. I played football from a young age and I had my own ideal – the legendary Lithuanian football player Valdas Ivanauskas”, says S. Mikoliūnas, who participated in the Lidl Lietuva event at the capital’s Sportima Arena.

Will cover all travel expenses

The winners of the children’s selection will not only get an exclusive opportunity to accompany the best European players to the field – Lidl will also pay for all travel expenses to Germany, both for each child and for one accompanying parent or guardian. According to Antanas Bubnelis, head of corporate affairs and communication at Lidl Lietuva, this will allow you to fully enjoy a unique experience.

“The travel program will be full of other fun entertainment and experiences. The culmination of the whole trip is stepping onto the football field with the continent’s best players. In order for this to become a reality, parents just need to confirm their consent to participate in the Lidl Plus mobile app and wait for the happy news,” says A. Bubnelis.

You can register your children in the selection of “Lidl’s children’s team” until April 28 inclusive. Those children who in 2024 can participate in the selection. At the time of the European Football Championship, they will be no less than 6 but no more than 10 years old. “Lidl Lietuva” will inform the winners of the selection by e-mails, which the participants will specify in the “Lidl Plus” application during registration.

It is desirable that both the children and the persons accompanying them on the trip have at least minimal knowledge of English or German. It is also recommended to have a valid identity document – an identity card or passport that is valid for at least another 3 months from the end of the trip.
