In recent years, Lithuanians have rediscovered the mansions of our country. You have to agree, they really deserve attention: magnificent buildings, the life of courtiers surrounded by legends, historical and architectural value, and where else is the landscape of stunning beauty. However, we must admit that some of the estates are difficult to reach from the capital. Here, for example, in order to go from Vilnius to the Ilzenberg manor located in Rokiškis district, near the border with Latvia, you will have to sacrifice almost 3 hours. And although the Ilzenberg manor does not complain about the flow of visitors, together with the Vilnius city municipality, it was decided to bring the manor even closer to the people of Vilnius and offer them both convenient access and manorial entertainment. Already this year, the palace of the Ilzenberg manor will be moved to the capital.

It is planned to move the palace, and leave the farm in Rokiškis district

At first glance, the idea of ​​moving the palace of the Ilzenberg manor may sound utopian. However, in the course of history, similar “movements” have already taken place. Perhaps the most famous of them is the turning of the building of the Indiana Bell Telephone company in the 1930s in Indiana (USA) at an angle of 90 degrees and moving it to an area 45 meters away. Almost a century later, technology is much more advanced. Therefore, after consultation with the engineering team, a decision was made – it is really possible to move the manor house from Rokiškis district to Vilnius.

The Ilzenberg manor team submitted a request to consider the relocation of the palace to the Vilnius City Municipality in October of last year. After almost half a year of discussions, just before Easter, a permit was signed for the relocation of the manor. So far, the exact coordinates of where the Ilzenberg Manor Palace will be located in Vilnius have not been released. However, one of the possible locations is rumored to be near the Acropolis, on the site of the unbuilt National Stadium.

True, it is planned to move only the palace itself and auxiliary buildings, such as an authentic barn, smokehouse, and the Master’s house. The entire Ilzenberg manor farm and vineyards will remain in the Rokiškis district. It is obvious that the park adjacent to the manor cannot be moved either. Therefore, consultations are already underway with landscape specialists who will create a historically accurate replica of the park around the relocated mansion. All works are planned to be completed by the summer of next year.

There will be tours, education and tastings

As we have already mentioned, the Ilzenberg manor is planned to be moved to Vilnius this year. Immediately after the moving works, Vilnius residents and guests of the city will be able not only to visit the manor house, but also to go on excursions.

As you probably already know, the Ilzenberg estate is famous for its production. And although the farm will remain in Rokiškis district, tastings will definitely take place in Vilnius. As before, tasting “Manorial Culinary Secrets” will be organized in the Master’s House, the Palace Dining Room or the luxurious Event Hall. During it, it is offered to feast on various types of cheeses, spreads, meat products, farm delicacies and other products made with love and without any artificial additives.

It is expected that the people of Vilnius will also be impressed by the wine tasting of the Ilzenberg manor. Natural fermentation wines are characterized by a cultivated taste and the highest quality. During the tasting, 6-8 different drinks are tasted, accompanied by court snacks.

So, Vilnius will soon have another authentic manor, pleasing not only with its exceptional classicism architecture, but also with the abundance of manorial activities and entertainment. It would be a sin not to visit.
