Works from the art collection of “BTA Baltic Insurance Company” (BTA) have been selected for the international exhibition “Unknown Familiars”, which will be held on May 7. opened in the prestigious Leopold Museum in Vienna. The exhibition was organized on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG). Two artworks from the BTA ART collection will be presented at the exhibition as part of the corporate art collections of the Vienna Insurance Group.

BTA art collection created in 2018. in cooperation with the “Kim?” contemporary art center, presents more than 30 emerging and recognized artists from the Baltic countries, including some of Latvia’s best-known contemporary art talents. The collection, reflecting the values ​​of BTA, weaves a poetic narrative about society, nature and technology. The aim of creating this collection was not only to improve the working environment – it is also an invaluable contribution to the contemporary art scene of the Baltic region.

The concept and content of the BTA ART collection was shaped by the contemporary art center “Kim?”, which curates it. The collection presents the works of young artists from the Baltic countries, whose themes correspond to the values ​​of BTA – accessibility, humanity and reliability.

“We are extremely happy and proud that this collection, created in the Baltic States, is receiving international attention,” says Zane Čulkstēna, founder of the “Kim?” Contemporary Art Center. – The mission of “Kim?” is to introduce emerging artists to collectors, educate the public about contemporary art and promote art collecting. I hope this will inspire other companies to follow BTA’s example!”

Corporate art collections are increasingly appearing in both office and public spaces as they create an environment conducive to creativity and have a positive impact on the people there. An art collection is an effective means of reflecting the company’s values, conveying a visual message that everyone can interpret in their own way. According to the latest research from the World Health Organization, the presence of works of art significantly improves well-being and mental health.

The exhibition “Unknown Acquaintances” will exhibit works of art from the art collections of six VIG companies, including BTA. The group’s art collections have been created since the 20th century. beginning by supporting artists and collecting works from different countries. Reflecting the various stages and contents of the collection’s development, the exhibition “Unknown Acquaintances” will present a wide range of themes and forms, while creating a sense of belonging to a single collection.

Museum visitors will be able to see the work “Phantom Camp VIII” by Estonian artist Kriss Lemsalu and the series “Roberts” by Lithuanian artist Elena Narbutaitė, which consists of 11 separate paintings, in the “BTA ART” collection.

The exhibition at the Leopold Museum in Vienna will be open from May 8. until October 6
