– Orinta, tell us briefly about yourself and your family: what do you do in life, who are you, what is your rhythm, needs?

– I am the mother of two unreal children, devoted to the family business. We all live it, even on our vacation trips we usually try to kill two birds with one stone (smiles). Children are already teenagers, so everyone has their own daily rhythm. After a long day, we meet at home for dinner.

– Let’s talk about your apartment. Why did you choose this one? What impressed you?

– After living surrounded by nature, I really wanted the hustle and bustle of the city, so our current home is in his very creation – in Vilnius, on Gediminas Avenue. There is a lot of life and energy here and our family needs it very much right now and we like it. We decided to buy the apartment the moment we saw it. It is completely our space with a long history and a wonderful view of Gediminas Castle.

– You built the house mostly on your own. Is doing everything yourself important to you? Why did you choose that? Where did you go for help?

– In these days of the Internet, creating is really not difficult. You can get ideas from the best specialists in the world. Every gallery or shop has a team of people who are able and willing to give advice. So we weren’t afraid to take action and experiment ourselves.

– Your home is very stylish, it seems that every item is thought out. How long have you been making them?

– We wanted things that would fit not only in the current home, but perhaps also in future homes in the future, that would be timeless. We tried to combine fashionable and classic items, to find a connection between them. In addition, we do not have unnecessary items that would greatly clutter the space.

– Have you always had a passion for interior design? Which creators, styles inspire you?

– Yes, I always felt it. But not only for interior design, but for beauty in general. The French, especially Joseph Dirand, are the most inspiring. Not only beauty, comfort, but also functionality solutions. It is important for me that practicality and beauty are balanced.

– How did you manage to reach common decisions, did you always have the same opinion? Did you have to make a lot of compromises?

– Both my husband and I are very lucky that we have the same taste in both interior and things (smiles). We only had to discuss the price (smiles).

– What challenges did you have to face, what turned out to be the most difficult and what would you not want to repeat?

– I won’t lie, there were quite a few challenges. I had to communicate with French galleries about lamps, make drawings “by eye”, and bring some things myself. Since a lot of the furniture is made of stone, the biggest challenges were with them. For example, we even had to make a special crane for loading extremely heavy and non-standard furniture. It took us a while because we hadn’t even thought about it. It is a good lesson and an experience that we will remember for a long time.

– What furniture and interior solutions do you enjoy the most? What are their origin stories?

– We have been waiting the longest for the dreamy Eric Schmitt lamps that hang above the dining table. They please the most. These lamps are unique in their construction, they are made of patinated bronze and opal glass. It was worth waiting for them, because I think it is a timeless item and a unique interior accent.

– There are many different stones in your house. How did you get it to match so beautifully, were there any considerations when choosing the stone?

– We combined everything naturally and simply. I would say that we were guided by intuition, inner feeling. We chose the items that were produced together with the manufacturer, so they always gave us advice. We trusted, so the result did not disappoint.

– You are lovers of vintage. Tell us more about this hobby. How do you discover and why do you choose vintage items?

– Vintage is history. Often, such items have a higher value than new ones. We have purchased a lamp that is a hundred years old. We find exceptional items not only online, but also in galleries, often assisted by a team of staff. I always find something beautiful, stylish and eye-catching on the midcentury.lt page.

– It is said that a home is a living organism that is constantly changing. Do you have any other changes planned for your home?

– Our house is not completely finished yet, there is still a lot of work to be done, but we have enough inspiration. We take our time, when looking for furniture or accessories, we carefully consider whether they will fit in our living space. But taking it slow and enjoying the process is only more interesting and meaningful!

– What would be your advice to people who want to build their own houses?

– Just create them! When you really want to, everything works out (smiles).
