Did tenor Luciano Pavarotti really have pasta for snacks backstage?

--

Betrayed by the opera manager?

One user of the social network “Threads” recently announced that the tenor had this strange habit. She shared a screenshot of an article titled “Legendary tenor L. Pavarotti kept a secret stash of pasta to snack on during performances.”

The woman still commented: “Normalize Pasta Snacks.”

An internet search engine, after entering this heading, throw away many similar articles on various websites and in social in networks.

More or less the same information is presented everywhere: that L. Pavarotti had a good appetite and liked to eat delicious food, and also – that he prepared pasta for concerts and snacked on it.

However, neither article cites the source of the latter information. For example, that the tenor himself would have admitted about this weakness, that the person who prepared his food would have talked about it. There is no other evidence, such as photos or videos, of the stock itself – packages of pasta that can be quickly made into something, ready-made meals, etc.

Many websites refer to an article that was published on the portal in early April page six. It is one of the world’s leading sources of celebrity and entertainment news, the gossip section of the US tabloid New York Post.

A screenshot of this very text was shared by the aforementioned Threads user.

Page Six has learned that famously hungry tenor L. Pavarotti used to snack at the Met to get through his performances. wrote website journalist.

“Secret agents say that while leading a tour behind the scenes of the Met (New York’s Metropolitan Opera – ed.), its legendary director Peter Gelb told guests: “L. Pavarotti, who had an insatiable appetite, often kept a secret stash of his favorite pasta backstage provisions, so that he could get off the stage among the arias and have a bite to eat.”

In essays quoted only operas in which the tenor at all held 378 performancesmanager Mr. Gelbas, but also indirectly. His words are passed by spies. The music itself has not publicly confirmedthat L. Pavarotti really behaved like that or that he had said such words.

Food nearby – 24 hours a day

It is true, even if P. Gelbas did not say anything like that, it is likely that the tenor could have behaved in this way. L. Pavarotti of the chubby station was famous for his hobby to eat deliciously and a lot.

His former manager, Herbert Breslin, was repeatedly quoted as saying that the artist “loved music, women, food and football, in that order”.

In the documentary “Pavarotti” made a few years ago, one opera singer toldthat the tenor, waiting for his visit during the tour, asked to bring kilos tortellini (dumpling-like rolls), parmesan and salami.

In order to abstain from food for a while, L. Pavarotti switched to a diet of chicken, beans and mashed potatoes. At that time, he finished his lunch with three scoops of ice cream – the fourth remained in the container.

Singer’s butler in 2004. Simeon Rosset, who worked on tour in the United Kingdom, in a documentary film assuredthat he needed a permanent personal kitchen, located next to the bedroom.

L. Pavarotti is said to have feared that he would starve if he did not have access to fresh food 24 hours a day. Such a phobia is said to have been found while growing up in war-torn and food-starved Italy.

“One of the requests was to turn the room next to where he slept into a small kitchen,” the butler told Ron Howard’s documentary. – We installed many refrigerators in which we had to have very specific food products – without exaggeration, they were enough to feed 20 people.

There should have been three fried chickens all along. It always was fresh pasta. We always had to have tomatoes, some kind of Italian tomato. The food was constantly changing – it was always fresh and ready to eat.

15 minutes verdict: missing context. It’s no secret that the famous Italian tenor L. Pavarotti liked to eat. However, the source of the report that he used to have pasta backstage to snack on during performances is not himself, but the manager of the Metropolitan Opera in New York is rumored to have said so. This information was posted in the gossip section.
