‘Humiliation of Putin’ – German press mocks Kremlin holiday attack

--

According to the publication’s open data analysis expert Julian Ropkes, this city in the Bashkiria region of Russia is about 1,300 km from Ukraine – “like Berlin to Rome”. The Security Service of Ukraine has already confirmed that this is the most far-reaching Ukrainian drone strike since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“Humiliation of Putin”

Mr. Ropke calls the flight of an ultralight aircraft with explosives and the successful destruction of a large oil refinery in Salavat “a humiliation of Russian President Vladimir Putin” just in time for May 9 – Russia’s Victory Day.

He reminds that in April, the Ukrainian Defense Forces already attacked Russian facilities with the help of the A-22 “Flying Fox” ultralight aircraft, as well as the French “Sky Ranger”. Under the fuselage of these aircraft, a communication system with cameras and a radio channel was installed. And the most important thing is a 250-kilogram aerial bomb.

Source: Ukraine strikes a Russian oil refinery nearly 1,200 km from the border

Ukraine’s State Security Service (SBU) carried out a record long-range drone strike on a Russian oil refinery nearly 1,200 km from the border, a Ukrainian defense source said on Thursday.

A source told AFP the strike on an oil refinery in the Russian republic of Bashkiria was “the work of the SBU” and was carried out at “record distance”.

According to the source, the drone flew a distance of 1,500 km.

Two oil storage facilities in Russia’s Krasnodar region were also hit, the source said.

“The SBU has once again proven that it has powerful technological solutions that help to deliver painful blows to the enemy,” the source said.

Russian emergency services said Thursday that a pumping station at the Salavat oil refinery in Bashkiria, owned by Russian energy giant Gazprom, had been damaged.

“There is no fire or casualties,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations wrote on social networks.

Local officials said smoke billowed over the refinery after the drone strike, but it continued to operate normally.

The attack was carried out as Russia celebrated the anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany.

“This is an attempt to spoil our celebration. We are not going to give in to provocations. Happy Victory Day!” said Radijs Khabirov, head of the Republic of Bashkiria.
