“First of all, I seek to protect the rights of myself and my wife and children to the inviolability of personal data and life. Since M. Laurinavičius writes in his “writings” that he receives information from VSD officers who previously worked with me, it is natural that collecting information about my family, travels and providing it to persons not related to the department is illegal,” T. Gailius said to Elta on Friday. .

“As a result, I have approached the Comptroller of Intelligence to find out who these officers are who are collecting information about my family’s private life and, in my view, illegally providing it to individuals who are then releasing it to the public,” he added.

According to the reporter, he applied to the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding possible defamation in M. Laurinavičius’ records.

“M. Laurinavičius stated in his last “letter” that I had an oriental orientation, that foreign partners allegedly did not trust me when I was still working at VSD. Here, I see a violation of the Criminal Code due to defamation, because that information does not correspond to reality, and it humiliates me and my reputation,” T. Gailius testified.

VSD rejects the accusations

The speaker has previously stated that while still working in intelligence, he received several orders from VSD director Darius Jauniškis and his deputy Remigijaus Bridikis to collect and provide them with classified information, which would later be handed over to M. Laurinavičiis. However, T. Gailius emphasizes, he refused to carry out such an order.

For its part, VSD rejects the accusations regarding the management’s relations with M. Laurinavičius.

“The mentioned accusations are false. The VSD management has never given any illegal instructions to collect and provide classified information to persons who do not have the right to access it. The VSD always operates in legal ways within the framework of the law”, VSD said in the reply sent to Elta.

“We remind you that on April 4 In the VSD’s evaluation submitted regarding the groundlessness of the conclusion of the Seimas temporary commission to investigate the so-called “VSD whistleblower’s history”, it is noted that the VSD has nothing to do with the circumstances established and made public by media representatives/formers of public opinion, the VSD did not cooperate with any public opinion makers and did not provide them with information”, he added. department.

ELTA reminds that M. Laurinavičius announced about the trips of T. Gailiaus’ family to Russia. However, the reporter himself testified in a Facebook post that he was in contact only with employees who worked at the embassy. T. Gailius shared that the information disseminated by the political commentator was “an ordinary dose of slander”.

Last week, the Ethics and Procedures Commission of the Seimas found that the parliamentary commission investigating the history of the VSD whistleblower exceeded its powers and illegally revealed the identity of the whistleblower Tomas Gailius. In addition, the chairman of the commission, Vytautas Bakas, was biased and interested in the investigation, according to ethics watchdogs.

As reported earlier, the Seimas approved the conclusions of the parliamentary investigation after the discussion – the last vote remained for their approval. The conclusions of the VSD rapporteur’s commission cast a shadow over President Gitanas Nausėda and the heads of special services. After several months of analysis and the testimony of a dozen officials, it was established that the head of the Security Service, Darius Jauniškis, helped the then candidate G. Nausėda by collecting intelligence information about his environment. The conclusions of the investigation also state that the VSD investigated possible violations in the financing of G. Nausėda’s election campaign.

It was also found out that G. Nausėda and members of his electoral staff in 2018-2019 maintained contacts with representatives of the Belarusian fertilizer business, met with them, and after becoming the head of the country, invited these persons to the events held at the Presidency.

Meanwhile, the head of the Special Investigation Service (STT), Linas Pernavas, according to the commission, abused his duties by refusing to provide the information gathered during the criminal intelligence investigation and misleading the commission members.
