The “FedEx Express” cargo plane “Boeing 767” made an emergency landing. The plane was flying from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Istanbul and was due to land on Wednesday morning, May 8. This was reported by the newspaper “Independent”.

The front landing gear reportedly failed as the plane approached the runway. As a result, the aircraft had to be stopped with the rear landing gear and the front part rubbing against the asphalt.

A video posted on social media shows sparks and smoke rising as the plane moves down the runway, before the plane is doused with fire-fighting foam.

The pilot reported the landing gear problem in time and flew over the airport beforehand to inspect the possible damage. It was later decided to make an emergency landing, so the crews of the emergency services, including the fire brigade, were fully prepared.

According to Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu, none of the plane’s passengers were injured. The crew was also able to evacuate safely.

“We got the situation under control, so there were no casualties due to the coordination of the Istanbul Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFF) team, which was ready for a controlled landing,” said IGA, the company that manages Istanbul Airport, in an official statement.
