Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on the X platform on Tuesday that the Security Services Council meeting will discuss the “suspected influence of Russia and Belarus on the Polish government apparatus in previous years.”

Earlier this week, Warsaw officials launched an investigation into alleged espionage after a Polish judge sought political asylum in neighboring Belarus.

Tusk told reporters on Tuesday that Judge Tomasz Szmydt “had access to various classified documents” and had established contacts with Belarus.

“We need to know that the security services, in this case Belarus, were working with a person who had direct access to the Minister of Justice (…) and who had access to various classified documents that no intelligence service should have access to,” – before Tuesday, the Polish D. Tusk said at the government meeting held in Katowice in the south.

“The fact that Judge T. Szmydt’s relationship with Belarusians has a long history and is not just a matter of recent months should be of great concern,” he added.
