According to them, in Niger, Ghana, Botswana and Kenya, as well as in some other African countries, there are no pensions typical of Westerners and there never were. There is also a constant lack of food, medicine and fresh water. And what is the situation in countries that are considered developed?

China

Few people know that the old-age pension system in China is particularly poorly developed. Specialists specify that here only officials receive a more or less decent pension, and even those who have worked in factories for a long time have much lower retirement pensions. Residents of the village who earned their living in farming and persons who had a private business can expect only minimal payments from the state, amounting to about 50-70 EUR/month. Such a procedure was introduced only 15 years ago.

Vietnam

Although Vietnam tried to create a Soviet-style pension system at one time, they ended up with something similar to China’s pension system. The average old-age pension in the country is about 100 euros, but only officials and persons who worked in the industrial sector receive it. If a person has worked in agriculture all his life or had his own business, the benefits do not belong to him.

Thailand

According to economists, in the country of resorts and smiles, as it appears to many Westerners, universal pensions began to be paid only 26 years ago. Until that time, only civil servants and persons who worked in the public sector received pensions.

in 1998 the government adopted a law providing for a universal pension tax, according to which all employers transfer 3 percent to the centralized pension fund. from income. True, it soon became clear that this is too little, so pensions have to be financed from the national budget. And only those who worked officially or approximately 50 percent can receive pensions. Thai people.

Informally employed persons can expect only minimum payments of 15-20 euros per month.

India

In a country that is going through an economic upswing, the prevailing attitude is that the elderly must be cared for by their relatives. There is only one pension fund in India that pays benefits to civil servants and the military.

Despite this, the amounts of benefits can vary by tens of times – someone receives 150 euros per month, someone only 15. Several religious foundations operate, but they take care of those living below the poverty line and the payments are not regular. The Indian government has tried several times to reform the country’s pension system, but all attempts have been unsuccessful.

Pakistan

This country has gone even further and legalized the care of elderly relatives. In Pakistan, refusing to care for elderly parents is considered a criminal offence. As for pensions, they are also received here only by officials, military personnel and persons who worked in the strategic sphere, which today includes the extraction of minerals.
