The Arabian sand-stranger is distinguished by the fact that its eyes are not on the sides of the head, but on the top of the head next to each other, which leads to such an unusual appearance.

These snakes live in the sandy deserts of the Arabian Peninsula and southwestern Iran. Its prey lurks almost completely buried in the sand, with only its eyes protruding. For this reason, they are so purposefully located.

The appearance of the snake makes netizens smile, so they do not hesitate to mock the animal.

“The only reason the Arabian sand rattlesnake has survived this long is because its prey can’t stop laughing in time to escape,” one Reddit user mocked the snake’s appearance, according to livesscience.com.

More than one “meme” has been created about this snake.

The Arabian Sandstrider grows up to 38 cm in length and can withstand a wide range of temperatures, however, it prefers to spend its time under the sand during the day. It comes out after dark. It is one of several species of stranglers that lays eggs rather than giving birth to live young.

The Arabian Sand Thrush is found in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, Kuwait and southern Iran, with a few specimens found in Khuzestan, Bushehr and Kerman provinces.

These snakes live in deserts and need sand or soft soil to burrow, animalia.bio writes.

Their color is yellowish gray or sandy brown to better adapt to the desert environment. They feed on lizards and geckos. Not poisonous.

Females of this type of strangler do not lay many eggs. After about nine weeks, when the young are ready to hatch, they have to be helped to break free from the eggs because the young do not have an egg tooth, the sharp bump on the snout that other snake species use to break through the egg shell.

The Arabian sandpiper lives throughout their wide range and is not considered to be threatened by human activity.
