The publication says that back in March, the US secretly sent 100 ATACMS missile systems to Ukraine. It is noted that the Americans had previously transmitted these systems, but their range was shorter.
Can reach Crimea
This time, the US has provided the war-torn country with missiles with a range of 290 miles (about 460 kilometers), giving Ukraine more valuable targets in its sights, including Crimea, which Russia occupied back in 2014. and which is crucial to its military strategy in Ukraine.
Mr Karber says the ATACMS supply is a “major breakthrough”.
“This weapon can essentially make Crimea militarily insignificant,” the expert emphasized.
Business Insider notes that Ukraine has carried out numerous attacks against Crimea in the past. It managed to significantly weaken the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the port of Sevastopol and targeted the strategically important Kerch Bridge, which connects the peninsula with Russia.
