During his visit to Canada, A. Duda gave an interview to CTV News, to which he said that in his meeting with the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, he focused mainly on Russia’s war in Ukraine and Washington’s support for Kyiv.
He added that they also discussed the need to stop what the president called Russian imperialism, which was the main thing Duda mentioned to US politicians.
According to A. Duda, the former president and likely Republican candidate in the November presidential election agrees that Russia’s defeat is also in the strategic interests of the United States.
“If the Ukrainians are not given help, it could end in a catastrophe,” the Polish president said, adding that Moscow could continue to pursue its imperialist goals and attack other countries.
“That’s when US military intervention will be needed,” A. Duda continued.
“Such a situation today can be avoided by providing financial assistance [Ukrainai]”, he stated.
“And it is certainly better for the taxpayers of the United States to stop this war with money than with the lives of American soldiers,” the president said.
