War in Ukraine. He explained why Russia is gathering troops in the direction of Kharkiv

Ivan Tymočko, a military man and chairman of the Council of Army Reservists, told on the air of Telebridge why the Russians are increasing their forces in the direction of Kharkiv and have intensified their actions again in the direction of Kupjansk.

“The Russian army has the task, first of all, to occupy the Donetsk region at the operational level. And at the strategic level, it is a matter of not allowing our armed forces to pose a threat to our army in some weakened directions or directions that are not a priority for them,” emphasized I. Tymočko.

According to him, they are trying to create the semblance of a second front to avoid a strike by Ukrainian forces. The Russians are also working to increase the front line to maximize the window of opportunity until the front line receives the required amount of ammunition and electronic warfare systems. “Even those brigades that are now formed and prepared are waiting for American and European weapons,” he emphasized.

In addition, the Russians are trying to stretch the front line so that the defense forces cannot concentrate the reserves available for specific directions, which are in Ukraine and are already technically equipped. The Chairman of the Council of Army Reservists noted that the Liman-Kupjansk direction always caught fire from time to time.

“Now we see that the enemy has become active again in the direction of Kupjansk. If they want to occupy the Donetsk region, they need to additionally come from the sides through the Kharkiv region. And in the direction of Kupyansk, the Oskol water reservoir (in Kharkiv region – UNIAN) is also important for them, which supplies water to the agglomeration of cities – Kramatorsk, Slavyansk and Druzhkivka. Water is supplied through the North Donetsk Canal. All these events require the Russians to start additional offensive actions in the direction of Liman-Kupjansk”, explained I. Tymočko.

He noted that now it is extremely important for the enemy to maintain the intensity of the fight in the direction of Donetsk in order to capture the Donetsk region and thus define at least part of the stage of his “Northern Military District”.

“Well, approximately – we occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions, some goals have been achieved. This will at least give Putin some justification for them to stop, e.g. Not because they will be exhausted by that time, but because there, let’s say, the goals have already been achieved,” he concluded.

As reported by UNIAN, Oleksandr Syrsky reported that the Russian attackers are pressing the entire battle line, trying to break through the front line. The fiercest fighting continues in the directions of Pokrovsky and Kurachovsky.

According to him, Russian forces are gathering and regrouping in the direction of Kharkiv, but there are no signs of direct preparations for an attack in the north.

According to military expert Oleksandr Musyenko, the Russians may try to open a new front and attack the Kharkiv region. He believes that Ukrainian forces are ready to counter such plans.
