The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has stated that a “radioactive cloud” is heading towards Europe due to the destruction of depleted uranium munitions supplied to Ukraine by the West. He is quoted by the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

N. Patrushev also asserted that an increase in radiation has already been recorded in Poland, and the United States is developing and using chemical and biological weapons – also on the territory of Ukraine.

However, in fact, the radiation background of Ukraine is normal. This was confirmed to The Insider by Olga Košarna, a member of the Board of the Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.

“Depleted uranium projectiles are not radioactive. This is a lie and speculation by word of mouth uranium“, she said.

Already earlier this week, lies appeared that a “radioactive cloud” covered part of Poland. Poland’s state atomic agency on Wednesday denied reports of increased radiation levels in the Lublin region.

The agency also called false the information about “increased radioactivity” in the city of Khmelnytskyi in Ukraine and emphasized that there is no danger of radiation.

Ukrainian authorities also denied information about the destruction of depleted uranium ammunition and increased radiation levels in Ternopil and the city of Khmelnytskyi. The head of Ternopil’s military administration, Volodymyr Truš, commented that the reports are fake, and the Khmelnytskyi city council urged not to react to provocations.
