This Saturday, 1 kg of tomatoes with twigs will cost only 1.59 EUR, and 1 kg of Atlantic salmon fillet without skin will cost 12.99 EUR. You can prepare these products both on the grill and at home – in a pan or oven.

Different countries have different grilling traditions

The weekend is also a great opportunity to try grilling methods from different countries, which Lidl experts will help you get to know.

In many countries it is popular to grill meat and other ingredients on skewers, but it is the Turkish kebab that is best recognized in the world. The history of this dish goes back several thousand years. One of the legends says that it was “shish kebab” that was started to be made in the Middle Ages by Arab soldiers who used their swords to kill meat and roast it over fires.

South America also stands out for its grilling principles, where “parillada” is the most popular way to grill meat in Argentina. It is a mixture of various products, including different sizes and types of meat, usually beef steaks and sausages, as well as kidneys, liver and sweet bread.

“Tandoori” is the so-called cooking vessel in which various dishes of Asian countries are prepared. The vessel is clay or metal, usually in the form of a tall cylinder. In it, food is prepared by placing it on hot coals or burning firewood, often cooking over an open flame, so the temperature inside the tandoori can sometimes reach up to 500 degrees. In India, chicken dishes, stuffed vegetables, stuffed pies and even bread are usually baked this way.

For those who want to try traditional methods of preparing food on the grill, Lidl experts suggest making a grilled salmon salad with tomatoes.

For the dish you will need:

  • 600 g Atlantic salmon fillet without skin;
  • 120 g of cherry tomatoes;
  • 70 ml of oil;
  • 35 ml of white wine vinegar;
  • 30 g of sun-dried tomatoes;
  • 1 handful of scallions;
  • 1st century sh. honey;
  • 0.5 a. sh. lemon pepper;
  • Salt to taste.

Rub the salmon with oil and season with lemon pepper and salt. Fry on the grill or in an oven heated to 180 degrees until the meat is cooked and acquires a light pink shade.

Add olive oil, vinegar, honey to a bowl, add chopped sun-dried tomatoes, add salt and pepper, mix.

Cut the tomatoes into cubes, the onions into smaller cubes and put them in another bowl. Mix all the ingredients and pour the prepared sauce. Serve the salad with grilled salmon. Delicious!
