26 countries will appear in the final this Saturday, and on Friday each of them has the opportunity to test their strength in a dress rehearsal.
However, during the penultimate dress rehearsal, there was no shortage of surprises – the Netherlands, who were supposed to appear as number 5, did not participate in the rehearsal.
According to skynews.com, the EBU is investigating Dutch representative Joost Klein over the unexplained incident. He won’t be able to rehearse on stage yet.
It remains unclear whether the Dutch representative will appear on the Eurovision stage during the grand final.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) released a statement:
It is not yet clear if Joost will be performing in Saturday’s grand final.
The EBU said in a statement: “We are currently investigating an incident reported to us involving a Dutch artist. He will not rehearse until further notice.
We have no further comment and will provide the latest information in due course.”
At the beginning of the rehearsal, the 26-year-old took part in a flag parade and walked around the stage in costume, but did not return to the stage for his performance about 30 minutes later.
On Thursday, it became clear that Latvia, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Israel, Greece, Estonia, Switzerland, Georgia, Armenia made it to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
After the second semi-final, the order according to which participants will appear in the Eurovision final was also made public. Lithuanian representative S. Belt will appear 7th in the grand final.
Before him – a representative of Israel, and the 8th – a participant from Spain.
