Mr. Biden warned on Wednesday that he would not send more weapons to Israel if Israel goes ahead with its plans to launch a ground operation in Rafah, his most direct warning yet about the impact of military action on civilians in this war.
“Rogue Joe supports terrorists, just as he supported the radical mobs that took over our college campuses,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social, referring to the anti-war protests that have taken place at many US universities.
Speaking to reporters later outside a courtroom where he was to be tried in New York on charges of bribing a witness to remain silent, Trump said “the way Mr. Biden is dealing with Israel is disgraceful.”
“He has completely left Israel to its own devices and no one can believe that,” said the Republican presidential candidate, who will face Mr. Biden in the November election.
As members of his own party mounted pressure to limit the supply of weapons, Mr. Biden last week intercepted two thousand shipments of 907 kilogram and 225 kilogram bombs.
Moreover, his administration has shown its displeasure to Israel before, albeit in less effective ways, such as imposing sanctions on extremist settlers or allowing the UN Security Council to pass a resolution supporting a ceasefire.
The war in Gaza began after Hamas on October 7. Israel carried out an unprecedented attack that killed more than 1,170 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official Israeli figures.
After vowing to destroy Hamas and free the hostages, Israel launched a retaliatory military operation that the Hamas-ruled territory’s health ministry says has already killed at least 34,900 people in Gaza, most of them women and children.
