After the Lithuanian road ring champion got into a terrible accident, the rumors that arose were shaken: there was talk about the wrong motorcycle

--

“At the request of the family, the federation does not comment on Sharūnas health issues. Only family can do that. However, everything was overgrown with such rumors that almost everyone around has their own versions”, said Giedrė Leskauskienė, head of the Lithuanian Motorcycle Sports Federation.

On Tuesday, five members of the national team, who are preparing for various competitions, could test their motorcycles during training on the “Nemunas Ring” track.

Š. Pladas fell from his motorcycle at the fourth turn of the track, which is called “Ažuolo” and at this place you can reach speeds of up to 220 km per hour.

The man fell on his left side, where the injuries were most severe. The emergency medical personnel were at the injured athlete half an hour later when the accident happened.

It was said that the machinery was to blame for the accident, because apparently Š. Pladas was riding a homemade motorcycle.

“This is complete nonsense. It’s a normal sports bike, but it was covered differently – with such special foam, there were no advertisements on it, so someone thought it was a homemade racing tool. This is complete nonsense”, said G. Leskauskienė.

According to the contract, the members of the “Nemunas Ring” national team can train on Tuesdays in order to check their technique and to check their readiness. Therefore, it is not a competition and doctors do not have to be on duty at the track.

“How did the accident happen?” As one of the racers said, only Šarūnas knows this. No one else will be able to explain how it happened, what went wrong and why Šarūnas fell from the motorcycle,” the head of the country’s motorcycle sports federation taught.

It is unofficially stated that the athlete was put into an artificial coma due to head injuries, and doctors fought for the man’s left arm.

G. Leskauskienė said that she does not know if there will be any event or action in support of Š. Plada, the multiple champion of the country’s motorcycle sports, who was involved in an accident.

“The family is now asking everyone to send positive thoughts to Šarūn. We can’t do anything more for now”, stated G. Leskauskienė.

Š. Pladas is the fastest rider of the Lithuanian road ring. He started his sports career in 2002. He even owns two speed records of the “Nemunas ring” and the Latvian “Bikernieki” ring (in the 600cc class).

The racer was preparing for the stages of the championship of Lithuania and the Baltic countries, which will be held in three countries and seven starts are planned for it – two of them in the “Nemunas Ring” of Kačerginė.

“There is no need to think that the Kačerginė track is completely bad or dangerous. No matter what safety measures are taken on the same “Bikernieki” track or during the world championships, accidents and deaths are inevitable there as well,” said the head of the federation.
