Priority is given to goods with a discount

On average, 80 percent residents give priority in stores to those goods that are subject to discounts or promotions, according to a representative survey of the country’s residents commissioned by Swedbank.

Traders can clearly see this as well – customers were constantly looking for the best prices, but the desire to buy goods at a lower price is only growing even more now. A significant number of products with a discount end up in shopping carts.

However, residents hunt for discounted goods not necessarily because they cannot purchase them at full price.

“The latest March data show that the prices of goods in the country fell by almost 2.5% during the year, thus reminding once again that the period of rapid inflation in Lithuania has already ended. At that time, the rapid increase in wages returned the purchasing power of the population to its previous level, which continues to increase.

Despite this, the population’s need to buy goods at a discount is extremely high. Depending on the product category, only 15-20 percent do not hunt for discounts. population”, said Swedbank economist Greta Ilekytė.
