The National Crisis Management Center (NKVC) denies the information spread in Belarus on Thursday about the attempted drone attack on Minsk by groups allegedly residing in Lithuania. According to the NKVC, such messages from the Belarusian services are considered a continuous provocation.

“The information disseminated by the Belarusian services about pseudo-groups allegedly residing in Lithuania and Poland, aiming to harm Belarus, is not new. We have been hearing such narratives for a long time, they became especially active during the defensive NATO exercises in the Baltic States, Lukashenko also spoke in a similar way at the beginning of March,” NKVC head Vilmantas Vitkauskas was quoted as saying in a statement released to the media on Thursday.

“Such statements by the Belarusian KGB can be evaluated as a continuous hostile provocation and an informational attack against Lithuania that has nothing to do with reality. It can be considered that they are also intended for the domestic audience of the country, as the “nation’s meeting” is currently taking place, says V. Vitkauskas.

The NKVC also reminds that citizens of Lithuania traveling to Belarus face increasing pressure and interrogations by the security services of this country.

“Therefore, there remains a strong recommendation to refrain from any travel in this direction,” NKVC announces.

Head of the KGB of Belarus, Ivan Tertelis, announced on Thursday that the Belarusian security forces prevented drone strikes from the territory of Lithuania on objects in Minsk.

“The State Security Committee, in cooperation with colleagues from other power structures, has recently carried out several sharp Chekist measures that prevented military drone strikes from the territory of Lithuania on objects in Minsk and its surroundings,” said I. Tertelis.

According to him, law enforcement officers continue to work in this direction, but “it is not possible to publish detailed information publicly yet.”
