“We have to create this strategic concept of reliable European defense,” Macron said, adding that Europe cannot be a vassal of the United States.

He warned that Europe is “not immune to the threats we face” in a world where “the rules of the game have changed”.

He said he would ask European partners for proposals in the coming months, adding that Europe also needs its own cybersecurity capabilities.

Macron said European suppliers should be prioritized when buying military equipment, and supported the idea of ​​a European loan to finance the effort.
