In the playoffs of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the New York Knicks, who are determined for a long journey, will continue this season without an important tall player.

To Mitchell Robinson a stress fracture was found in the left ankle. His ability to compete will be re-evaluated in 6-8 weeks, so he probably won’t run out on the floor this season.

The 26-year-old, 213 cm tall midfielder played only 31 games in the regular season due to injuries, 21 of them in the starting five and in 25 minutes collected 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals, 0.6 assists and 1.1 blocks.

He played six games in the playoffs and averaged 2.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 19 minutes, ceding the role of the main point guard to Isaiah Hartenstein. The Knicks will close the season without one of the leaders, Julius Randle, who needed shoulder surgery at the end of January.

The Knicks eliminated the Philadelphia 76ers 4-2 in the first round of the playoffs, and started the second round with a 121-117 victory over the Indiana Pacers. New York is aiming to return to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.
