Five Lithuanians will also compete for a ticket to the EuroLeague four this week – basketball players Marius Grigonis (Athens Panathinaikos), Donatas Motiejūnas (Monaco), Rokas Jokubaitis (Barcelona), Ignas Brazdeikis (Olympiakos Piraeus) and coach Šarūnas Jasikevičius (Istanbul Fenerbahçe).

At least two of them will fight for the title of the Old Continent on May 24-26 in Berlin.

Since 2009, the quarterfinals of the Euroleague have been played up to three wins, and 18 times these series have reached the decisive fifth game.

The statistics of decisive battles have increased especially in recent years, along with the maximum competition in the strongest tournament of the Old Continent – in the last four seasons, as many as eleven matches of the fifth series were needed in the Euroleague, compared to only ten in the previous twelve years.

All 18 times the ticket to the final four was won by the teams playing at home.
