During the sprint in Miami, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen received three 10-second penalties, including blocking Lewis Hamilton – and admitted he did it deliberately. McLaren team principal Andrea Stella believes that Magnussen’s deliberate actions, when he allegedly tried to help his team-mate, should be punished very seriously.

Andrea Stella: “Everything was clear to me in that situation. A racer acted in such a way as to intentionally cause damage to another team. By the way, this behavior is repeated throughout the season.

I believe that such fines cannot be aggregated. They must be stricter. It should not be the case that 5+5+5 equals 15. If a 5+5+5 penalty is imposed, the racer should spend the next competition at home with his family and watch the competition on TV, think carefully about his sporting behavior, only later would he have a chance to return.

If we see that you have become a loyal, honest and sportsmanlike pilot, then you will be able to stay in this championship, and unsportsmanlike behavior is completely unacceptable.”
