How an unconventional fashion brand from a small Lithuanian town reached a turnover of 50 million US dollars

--

Starting a successful business

The idea of BURGAS was born when self-taught graphic designer Gytis and engineer and technology enthusiast Lin noticed that the fashion world was overcrowded.

“Throughout my time working closely with the fashion industry, it has become abundantly clear that it is overloaded. It has many brands of various types and corresponding to various price categories – from luxurious, not accessible to everyone to fast fashion giants. Then it became more and more clear that the market does not need another typical clothing or accessories brand, but there is a lack of products in which practicality meets style,” said G. Gelžinis.

Inspired by this idea, they started their journey with only a vision and a modest investment gathered from their last savings. In the beginning, the founders of the business sold phone cases on the “Amazon” platform, paying attention to the fact that their designs correspond to current and future fashion trends. The activity was in demand and became the basis of what we now call the successful brand BURGA.

An unconventional brand

BURGA is distinguished by its philosophy, which states that style should not be limited to clothes. In line with this, the brand’s creators challenged conventional fashion norms and were the first to focus on everyday items that most traditional fashion brands often don’t even consider, becoming pioneers of unconventional fashion and pioneers in their field.

During the lifetime of the company, the range of products has also grown significantly. Currently, it is extremely wide ranging from phone cases, drinking glasses, to sunglasses or notepads. Launched in 2023, the sunglasses collection combines practicality and high fashion and is a perfect example of the brand’s vision.

The hallmark of accessories is a unique design

Currently, the company employs many talented creatives who, by carefully following global design trend forecasts and analyzing the most important fashion events, anticipate potential directions for fashion innovation. This allows us to offer customers more and more unique designs, which are also inspired by sources such as movies, social networks or presentations prepared by various fashion houses.

BURGA aims to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Each product and its design is an example of innovation and exclusive design, which turns the products of this brand into a stylish luxury item. This allows us to continuously present collections that attract the audience’s interest and meet their needs.

A brand loved by celebrities

Internationally recognized and gathering 2 million fans, BURGA has also attracted the attention of global celebrities. Taylor Swift, one of today’s most popular singers, has been seen on her social networks with a case of the Lithuanian brand more than once. BURGA accessories were also chosen by actresses Lucy Hale and Elizabeth Gillies, influencer and actress Alexis Ren, and recently the famous British model Cara Delevingne added to this list of stars.

BURGA designs can also be seen on movie screens. The well-known actor and comedian Pete Davidson wore a case of this brand in the movie “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and BURGA cases are also seen in the Netflix series “Never Have I Ever” and ” The Fall of the House of Usher” (eng. The Fall of the House of Usher).

The next step is rapid development

A successful company invests more and more in development in all continents of the world. Currently, localized websites are successfully operating in 16 countries, perfectly adapted to meet the needs and wishes of foreign buyers. BURGA also aims to conquer markets such as Japan and Taiwan, using marketing strategies specific to the Asian region and the development of e-commerce in these countries. The company also plans to introduce even more localized sites, so it is expected that it will be able to expand the boundaries of its activities even more in the course of the year.

The company, which is growing every year, recently completed the design project of the new headquarters. BURGA plans to move to the new 7,225 square meter building in Kaunas, located in the free economic zone, at the end of 2025. This change will increase the production capacity to 40 thousand. production units per day. After moving to the new premises, an increase in the number of jobs is expected, the new headquarters in Kaunas will have a total of 344 jobs.

These strategic moves will ensure that the brand’s growth needs are met, so increasing order volumes can be produced and shipped even faster and more efficiently, and the new facilities’ production technologies will open up the opportunity for the company to offer never-before-seen products. In the future, BURGA aims to continue to successfully expand its product range, enter new product categories, strive for innovation, impeccable quality in its products and transform more and more functional accessories into fashionable style details.

BURGA New factory

A goal that goes beyond financial success

For the founders of the brand, Gytis and Lin, BURGA is more than a business – it is a revolution in the world of fashion. They believe that the example of this business will spread the name of Lithuania outside of Europe, provide inspiration to young entrepreneurs starting their activities, and encourage more people to create D2C (Direct to Customer) brands. The men also hope that, like Germany, the USA or Switzerland, which are famous for their automobile industry, technology startups or luxury watches, Lithuania will be associated with innovative products in the future and become the capital of such brands, known all over the world.
