How did such overpayments occur?
“Large amounts of GPM overpayments can occur in cases where GPM was deducted from the total amount of income from individual activities, and the resident, when submitting the income declaration, supplemented it by recording the allowed deductions, which automatically reduce the amount of taxable income,” M. Endrijaitis named as one of the reasons.
An overpayment of GPM can also occur when a resident’s employment income has been taxed in two states, and later, during the elimination of double taxation, half of the double income tax amount is returned to the resident.
And how much did the residents have to pay the most? These amounts exceed millions.
According to the deputy head of VMI, the largest amount is 3.36 million. euros. The remaining four residents paid 2.9 million, 1.73 million, 1.25 million. and 1.19 million arrears amounting to EUR.
The largest amounts of GPM payable arise from the sale of financial instruments (shares, securities, etc.), as well as from the income received from individual activities.
