08:10 | Russian forces are preparing for a new offensive: US analysts have indicated two possible directions

In their latest report, analysts at the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) state that Russian forces have several tactical options for a future offensive near Avdiyivka, but it is not yet clear where they will focus their efforts in the near future.

According to ISW analysts, the stabilization of Russian positions northwest of Avdiyivka gives Russian commanders the opportunity to choose:

  • or to continue moving west to the established operational objective near Pokrovsk;
  • or attempt to move north and conduct possible additional offensive operations around Chasiv Yar.

About 20-25 thousand Russian troops are trying to storm Chasiv Yar and settlements on the outskirts of the city, Ukraine announced exactly a week ago.

Chasiv Yar is about 10 km west of Bakhmut and 50 km north of Avdiyivka, towns in the Donetsk Oblast that Russia captured in May 2023 and February 2024, respectively.

Some time ago, ISW analysts announced that a Russian attack west of Avdiyivka could give the Russians tactical advantages. And Russia’s offensive operation to capture Chasiv Yar gives Russian forces immediate prospects for a significant operational advance.

07:39 | Germany delivered ten more Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine

Germany has delivered ten more Marder infantry fighting vehicles and other means of defense to the Ukraine attacked by Russia. The package includes a second Skynex air defense system, as well as nearly 30,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft tanks and ammunition for the Iris-T system, the federal government said in Berlin on Monday. The third Patriot air defense system promised in mid-April is not included in this package of German military support. Russia has recently stepped up its airstrikes with missiles, cruise missiles, drones and hover bombs.

7,500 155 mm caliber artillery shells, Leopard 2 tank ammunition and 3,000 hand-held anti-tank weapons were also transferred. The engineering and transport capabilities of the Ukrainian army have been strengthened with one more Biber armored car, an armored engineering vehicle, nine demining machines and nine M1070 Oshkosh tankers.

Germany is the second most important supporter of Ukraine after the United States.

Four people were killed and 32 others injured in a Russian missile strike in Ukraine’s southern port city of Odesa on Monday, according to updated figures, the local governor said late Monday.

“Until 10 p.m. (local and Lithuanian time) four people were killed and a dog was also killed. Another man died of a stroke caused by the attack. 32 people were injured, 25 of them, including two children and a pregnant woman, are in hospitals,” Oleh Kiper reported on the Telegram platform.

“The Russians hit a ballistic missile preliminarily with a cluster munition at one of the most popular places of Odessa residents and guests of the city, where people walked with children, dogs, played sports… Such ammunition is used to hit personnel and poses a threat primarily to people, not equipment and buildings,” the official wrote.

In a previous report, O. Kiper stated that “residential buildings and civil infrastructure” were damaged during the strike.
