“Golden heart of a doctor”: deserving doctors and health workers of the capital were awarded | Names

“The largest community of medical workers in the country is precisely in Vilnius – more than 3,000 people work in the capital. doctors and over 5 thousand nurses. I am glad that as the city continues to grow and expand, for the 16th year we find time to celebrate and thank each other for our dedication, empathy and care for patients. Although the greatest meaning in working in the field of health is created by the thanks, warm words or hugs of the Vilnius residents themselves, the attention of the municipality and the gathering of the community in April, when the World Health Day and Medical Workers’ Day are celebrated, it is a beautiful tradition and an opportunity for the owners of the city to motivate those who help the residents every day. – said Simona Bieliūnė, the vice-mayor of the city of Vilnius, during the award ceremony.

10 employees of health care institutions operating in the capital were awarded with miniatures of the “Golden medical heart” and the thanks of the mayor of Vilnius city municipality. The rest of the award candidates, of which there were 39 in total, also received their thanks.

Doctors of the year – dedicated to the mission of their noble work

The award, for the provision of palliative care to an extremely sensitive group of patients that requires special attention, dedication and empathy, is dedicated to Edita Raičinskiena, family physician of the Nursing, palliative medicine and social services clinic of the VšĮ Center polyclinic:

“Working in this field requires a lot of strength, but the most important thing is the trust of patients and their family members. It makes me happy, it inspires me to work even in very difficult situations, when one cannot do anything, but it is necessary to work together”.

“Golden heart of a doctor” for merits to obstetrics and gynecology, for endless dedication to her profession, high qualification and contribution to motherhood and women’s health care, awarded to Dalyta Ulevičiene, obstetrician-gynecologist of the doctors of Šeškina polyclinic at VšĮ Šeškinės Polyclinic: “Since I haven’t read patients’ comments about my work for several years feedback, colleagues say thanks for them. So receiving this award means a lot.”

An exceptional evaluation, for sincere, long-term dedication to professional activity, honest and caring work and fostering the organization’s values, is also dedicated to Laurynas Bukelskis, head of the acute psychiatry department of Vilnius City Mental Health Center, psychiatrist-psychotherapist.

“No matter how much we’re interested in mental health, we’re still going to discover things we didn’t know about before.” As a result, there can be a lot of stress in this job, but thanks to the efforts of the entire team and the managers working in the administration, I am happy to go to work with only good emotions”, said L. Bukelskis, who became the doctor of the year 2023, while accepting the award.

Nurses of the year – they introduce innovations and share their knowledge with young people

Neringa Skvereckaitė, Senior Nursing Administrator of the Department of Nervous Diseases of VšĮ Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, general practice nurse, was awarded the “Golden Heart of a Physician” for her activity, constant striving for improvement, receptiveness to innovations and encouragement to implement the most advanced nursing technologies in patient care, compliance with high work quality and ethical standards In my job.

“Every day at work brings something new, so I go to work like a holiday. The colleagues of the department are also worthy of thanks, because it would not be so pleasant to work without them. Thank you for the evaluation – it means a lot to me”, said N. Skvereckaitė, who became the nurse of the year 2023.

The award, for dedication, loyalty and dedication to work and the entire community of the institution, continuous professional development and sharing competences and experience with medical students, was presented to Valentina Gromykiene, a general practice nurse of the Reception Sub-section of the Reception and Consultation Department of VšĮ Vilkpėdė Hospital, who has been working at the institution for over 40 years : “I work with patients who need complex wound dressings. I listen to everyone if they are worried about the pain or the procedure, I reassure them and I am very happy when those wounds heal.”

Nijolė Dzygalienė, senior nurse-nursing administrator of the Department of Children’s Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases of VUL Santaras Clinics, was also appreciated for her professionalism, long-term work practice, active nurturing of the institution’s organizational culture, sociability, creativity, continuous learning and transfer of experience to young colleagues.

“I remember when I first started working at the hospital, there was a tradition in the team to give a book to young employees. What I received was a wish – may the work bring joy and restore health to the patients. I am happy to work as a nurse, because this wish comes true every day,” said N. Dzygalienė, who became the nurse of the year 2023.

Healthcare workers of the year – take care of both patients and colleagues

Aleksandra Mežanec, a physiotherapist at the Karoliniški Polyclinic, was awarded the “Golden Heart of a Doctor” for her endless care, empathy and professionalism, for her participation in various projects, seminars, continuous professional development, interest in innovations and new treatment methods.

“Patients open the door of my office hesitantly, but when they leave, they not only say thank you, but say “see you again.” This, of course, is also noticed by colleagues – I want to wish all medical workers the will to move more and stretch,” said A. Mežanec, who became the 2023 Health Protection Worker.

The award for dedication to work, independence, attentiveness, responsibility in caring for the well-being of colleagues and patients, for sincere, empathetic communication and the ability to inspire others, was presented to Galina Griadovskaja, nurse’s assistant at the 1st cardiology department of VšĮ Vilnius City Clinical Hospital: “Work is inspired not only by family , daughters, but also colleagues. When surrounded by such friendly people, it’s nice to work – I feel their support every step of the way.”

For helpfulness, friendliness, dedication to work, sensitivity in communicating with patients, their relatives and colleagues, and adherence to high standards of work quality and ethics in his work, Pavel Deniuš, assistant medical worker of the Supportive Treatment and Nursing Department of VšĮ Vilkpėdes Hospital I, was awarded: “Despite hard work, every day should be greeted with a smile, sharing kindness and warmth. Positivity and sincerity provide a lot of strength.”

Leader of the year – Giedrius Bernotavičius

For the first time, the “Golden Heart of a Physician” award was presented to the Leader of the Year in the capital’s health sector. He became Giedrius Bernotavičius, head of the children’s orthopedics and traumatology department of VUL VUL Santaras clinics, an orthopedic traumatologist who could not participate in the award ceremony due to a prolonged operation.

G. Bernotavičius is awarded the award for professionalism, attention and care for patients, for the treatment of serious pathologies and the application of innovative surgical techniques in children’s orthopedics, leadership in mobilizing and educating colleagues for the well-being of patients.
