As reported by Klaipėda AVPK, police officers, border guards and officers of the Kurzeme Regional Police Board of the Latvian State Police and the Latvian State Border Guard on May 8-9. patrolled two sections of the Lithuanian-Latvian border – the road Klaipėda-Liepoja and the road Skuodas-Plungė in the Skuoda district.

May 8 two drunken drivers were found on the road Klaipėda-Liepojja, one of them did not have the right to drive. 95 vehicles were stopped on the territory of Latvia, one of the checked persons was traveling without travel documents.

May 9 on the same road, officers checked 64 vehicles, found two violations – one Latvian citizen did not present a valid driver’s license, another person was driving recklessly.

In the Skuodas district, on the Skuodas–Plungė road, May 8. officers checked 101 vehicles, found two violations of the Road Traffic Rules (KET) – they caught a drunken cyclist and a driver who did not have compulsory vehicle insurance. May 9 34 vehicles were checked during the patrol carried out there, and one KET violation was found.

Joint measures of officials on the Lithuanian-Latvian border are prepared continuously, at least once a quarter. Their purpose is to ensure public order, safe traffic, prevent illegal circulation of excise goods and illegal migration.
