The Kaunas District Court received the victim’s complaint.

ELTA reminds that on April 22, the court found Tomas J. guilty of a minor health disorder and sentenced him to nine months’ imprisonment without intensive supervision.

Instead, Tomas J. was ordered to work 40 hours unpaid within 4 months in health care, social service institutions or non-governmental organizations that take care of the elderly, disabled or other people in need of assistance, the court reported.

The person is also required to participate in a behavior correction program within three months. Added to this sentence was the defendant’s failure to comply with the 2019 order of the Kaunas District Court. the imposed penalty is a fine of 1,600 euros.

The civil claim was partially settled – the victim A. Ulvid was awarded 27.54 euros in property and 1000 euros in non-pecuniary damage, the costs of the lawyer’s representation were also partially awarded.

The court verdict stated that Tomas J.’s criminal actions did not cause serious consequences, and the victim’s behavior was provocative.

The victim filed a lawsuit for 99.54 euros in property and 10,000 euros in non-pecuniary damages and asked to be awarded the litigation costs incurred by him.

The court, after examining all the testimony of the victim, came to the conclusion that the non-pecuniary damage requested to be awarded in the amount of 10,000 euros is too high and does not meet the criteria of justice and reasonableness. The judgment notes that awarding non-pecuniary damage to the victim cannot become a source of personal gain.

ELTA reminds that the incident took place on the evening of February 20, 2023, at the gas station located on Pramonės avenue in Kaunas. As previously announced, after finding the underage friend of A. Ulvid’s stepdaughter in A. Ulvid’s car, Tomas J. went back to the gas station and asked A. Ulvid where he was taking this minor. It is said that A. Ulvidas told him to “go to the forest”. Tomas J. punched A. Ulvid in the face.

Kaunas County Police received a report that a Ford car was spotted at the gas station, the driver of which, A. Ulvidas, arrived at the gas station together with a minor girl born in 2007.

Taking into account this information, the Kaunas court dealing with the case of molestation of teenagers tightened the pretrial detention for A. Ulvid, because he violated the condition of the punishment imposed on him – a written promise not to leave – and communicated with girls younger than 16 years of age.

The man from Kaunas has already been tried for molesting girls before – he was tried for dancing naked with teenage girls. The man claimed that the girls found him on their own.

The Kaunas district court has received four cases of A. Ulvids regarding molestation of underage girls, witnesses and victims are questioned during the hearings.

The accused is arrested, a psychiatric examination has been ordered for him.

A. Ulvidas had escaped from Lithuania, but was arrested in Denmark last June.
