Vilnius, May 3 (ELTA). A procession will be held in Vilnius on Saturday to celebrate the Day of Polish Emigration. During the event, the participants of the celebration will walk from the Seimas to the Dawn gate, where the holy mass will be celebrated.

“There will be a procession in our capital, Vilnius – from the Seimas to the Dawn Gate. Upon reaching the Gate of Dawn, a holy mass will be celebrated. This procession is intended to celebrate the Day of Polish Emigration. Such events have been organized since 2003”, Waldemars Tomaszewskis, the chairman of the Polish Union of Lithuania, which organizes the march, and the head of the Lithuanian Polish Election Campaign-Union of Christian Families (LLRA-KŠS) told Eltai about the planned event.

According to him, this year also marks the 35th anniversary of the Polish Union of Lithuania.

“We are also celebrating the anniversary of the Republic of the Two Peoples or the May 3rd Constitution,” said W. Tomaszewski.

According to Gabrielus Grubinskas, media relations specialist of the Vilnius City Municipality, as indicated in the permit issued for the event, the march will start at 12:00, it will take place from Independence Square, the participants of the march will go along Gediminas Avenue, Šventaragis, University, St. Jono, Pilies, Didžiąja, Aušra Varta streets to Aušra Varta.

“The organizers’ request states that the planned number of participants (of the march – ELTA) is up to 7 thousand”, said G. Grubinskas.

The Polish Union of Lithuania was founded in 1989. The organization nurtures the social, cultural and educational activities of Lithuanian Poles.
