In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the accession to the European Union, open door days “OžmESk akės” are being organized in Lithuania, during which 20 projects implemented with EU investments and symbolizing their benefits will be opened to residents. Among them are Panevėžys STEAM center, Kaunas company Elinta Motors, Šiauliai candy factory Rūta, Manufacturing Innovation Valley in Vilnius and many others.
The open days organized by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) will be held in all ten counties of the country and will start on May 17 with events in Alytus Dainai slėni and Žiežmariai. The events will continue for two more weekends in May and the project will be crowned by the final event in Plunge on June 1.
“EU investments in those 20 years have changed Lithuania beyond recognition. We have implemented many significant changes in all areas of life. Some of them, such as the public spaces of cities and towns, roads, highways, renovated buildings, are visible to the naked eye, others, such as innovation, health, education, and social sector reforms, are perhaps more difficult to measure. Therefore, celebrating this significant anniversary for Lithuania, we thought of inviting the country’s residents to “take a look” at this symbolic twenty projects, to experience and see those changes up close, and, of course, to celebrate together,” says Lidija Kašubienė, head of CPVA.
During its twenty years of membership in the European Union, Lithuania received 16 billion euros of EU investments. In the new EU investment period of 2021-2027, another 10 billion euros will be invested in Lithuania’s well-being.
Various excursions, education and orientation games will await the residents at the open day events. For example, the company “Elinta Motors” that has opened its doors will demonstrate the production of its prototypes, the “Rūta” candy factory will invite you to a tour and a tasting of its products.
A free excursion by ferry to Malkai Bay is planned in Klaipėda.
