Monthly household income in Vilnius has increased by 42 percent on average over the past three years. (919 euros) to 3,126 euros – such a change was the largest among the capitals of the Baltic states, Swedbank, which conducted the study, reported on Monday.

Families with two children living in Tallinn, where both earn an average salary, the income after taxes grew by 24% in 2021-2023, in Riga – by 29%.

“The people of Vilnius have almost caught up with the leader of the Baltic countries, Tallinn, in terms of income, while the residents of Riga earn the least of all three neighbors,” Swedbank said in a statement.

According to the research, the average household income in Tallinn is 3,576 euros, and in Riga – 2,655 euros.

According to Justina Bagdanavičiūtė, head of financial education at Swedbank, the increase in income in Vilnius, in addition to increased salaries, was also due to the increase in child money from 70 to 96.25 euros.

According to the bank, Vilnius residents spend an average of 817 euros per month on food, housing and transport, or 26 percent. household income – less than in Latvia (988 euros) and Estonia (997 euros).
