The Department of Narcotics, Tobacco and Alcohol Control (NTAKD) urges municipalities to start using the Register of Administrative Misdemeanors and check whether business entities wishing to obtain licenses to engage in activities related to alcohol, tobacco products, and electronic cigarettes meet the requirements set forth in the Laws. It is very important to ensure that such activities are carried out by business entities with an impeccable reputation. This is required by the Law on Control of Tobacco, Tobacco Products and Related Products.
Specialists of the department entered the data on all economic sanctions applied to individuals and legal entities in the last 5 years to the Register of Administrative Misdemeanors. The municipality will be able to use this information when issuing licenses, optimizing processes and reducing the time costs of issuing licenses, assessing the applicant’s compliance with the requirements set forth in the law.
In the past, municipalities applied to the Department with a request to provide information on economic entities wishing to carry out retail trade in alcoholic beverages or tobacco products. The department received 10 or more such requests in one day, so the specialists, following the licensing rules, prepared such information and sent it to the municipalities.
In order to optimize the process of issuing licenses, the functionality of the Register of Administrative Misdemeanors has been expanded. From 2024 on June 1, municipalities themselves can already assess the compliance of applicants with the requirements of the Law on Control of Tobacco, Tobacco Products and Related Products and the Law on Alcohol Control.
We encourage municipalities to start using the new opportunities before June 1, and throughout the month of May, the Department’s specialists will provide consultations so that the use of the Register of Administrative Misdemeanors goes as smoothly as possible.
