Residents of New Town are stunned: Vytenio st. a new sidewalk is being laid, which.. is not connected to the old one. The residents appealed to the workers, who claim that no connection is planned. The municipality is aware of the situation, it has made comments to the company, which the latter ignores.
As explained by the municipality, Vytenio st. Sidewalk 46B is being designed by the new one co-living in the territory of the complex project. The designers probably thought only about the residents of the complex and forgot about the surrounding infrastructure, because they were not going to install a sidewalk connection.
“The developer is informed that the new sidewalks must be connected to the existing ones, but so far the comments have not been taken into account. The comments will be made again during the on-site inspection planned for next week, the sidewalks will have to be equipped properly”, says Gabrielius Grubinskas, Media Relations Specialist of the Vilnius City Municipality.
The currently designed sidewalk would become a real obstacle course for Vilnius residents. Basically, it would not allow a bicycle or scooter to pass comfortably, it would be inconvenient for parents with prams and people with disabilities.
