Luminor and Šiaulių bankas recently announced the increase in service prices.

At that time, SEB bank’s customers received the second letter this year about the increased services.

Services are becoming more expensive for the second time this year

For the first time, this bank increased the price of some services from April 9.

On Thursday, SEB customers received notifications that from July 1 services – again appreciated.

This time, the monthly service plan will be twice as expensive for those who use the “Sumanu” plan. It will be changed to the “Daily” plan.

If customers pay 1 euro for the current plan, then the new plan will cost them 2 euros.

“We appreciate our cooperation. In order to continue it successfully, we remind you that m. April 9 we have introduced updated service plans, and the previous plans will be valid until the beginning of July.

With this letter, we inform you that in 2024 From July 1st to July 5th, we will automatically replace the service plan you are currently using with the “Everyday” plan. You don’t need to take any action,” SEB informed clients.

The bank also informs that the services are priced in accordance with the rules for the use of service plans for private customers.

They provide: “If the bank no longer provides a certain type of service plan, the bank has the right to replace the customer’s service plan with another plan that most closely matches the customer’s service plan, or is the most suitable for the customer, taking into account the services he uses.” In this case, the contract for the exchangeable service plan is not concluded.”

SEB also informs that customers can choose another plan or terminate the concluded service contract.

Customers are angry about the increase in the price of the service

Tomas, the reader who forwarded the bank’s letter to the portal tv3.lt, was outraged by his behavior.

“I have been a client of SEB for many years. I have both a home loan and a consumer loan. I pay them hundreds of euros a month – the payments have increased significantly due to the increased Euribor interest rate. And still, despite all these circumstances, the bank raises the subscription fee twice.

Of course, this will not make me poor, but it is still disgusting that the bank is doing this while collecting millions of profits”, the reader did not hide his indignation.

He claims to have noticed that the next plan provides for the possibility of withdrawing more of his money from the bank (not 500 euros, but 600 euros). However, this is completely irrelevant for the man, because he hardly uses cash.

“And the new plan for unlimited transfers or more accounts is completely irrelevant to me.” Literally, I am forced to pay twice for something that is not relevant to me at all,” complained Tom.

By the way, on Wednesday SEB announced that it received 148 million during the first quarter of 2024. EUR income and earned 74.2 million EUR unaudited net profit.

It will be more expensive, but you can’t compare

SEB Bank’s media representative Ieva Dauguvietytė-Daskevičienė explained in a comment to the tv3.lt portal that customers do not understand why they will have to pay twice as much as they are paying now.

“It is not correct to compare the prices of existing and updated service plans, because the plans differ in their content: they include new and/or expanded services, they are packaged differently,” explained the representative.

According to her, in the “Kasdienis” service plan, in addition to the usual services for the plan, there is a higher cash withdrawal limit (instead of 550 EUR/month it is 600 EUR/month) and there is a new service – instant insurance against injuries (the payment would be 50 EUR per year).

Allegedly, this coverage covers all accidents and unexpected events that require a visit to the emergency room (the previous plan did not have Sumanu coverage). The injury benefit would cover the plan’s annual fee.

The spokeswoman testified that, taking this into account, the plan does not increase in price, as it now includes a new service, the value of which is clearly measurable (by the amount of the benefit).

If the client does not need instant insurance against injuries or a higher cash limit, he can choose a set of essential payment services prepared by the Bank of Lithuania (“Minimalus” plan, price 1.37 EUR/month, and 0.69 EUR for persons with social assistance).

By the way, it would still be 37 percent. more than they pay now by choosing the “Sumanu” plan.

“The pricing of the bank’s services continues to be structured in such a way that it is most beneficial for customers to use the services by choosing one of the service plans – this is cheaper than using individual services.

We devoted a lot of attention and time to updating the service plans – first of all, we started this process with customer surveys, formed target groups of various ages and explained what is important and relevant to customers. Then, taking into account the expressed wishes, we created offers that best meet the wishes of the customers”, explained I. Dauguvietytė-Daskevičienė.

She drew attention to the fact that SEB Bank’s service plan fees for private customers have never been increased since their creation in 2012.
