The Flower Festival of Pakruoj Manor remains without an opening date: unusually early flowering is expected this year Life

“Every year we embark on both a fun and at the same time problematic game with nature: climate change increasingly makes it impossible to predict the true arrival of spring, the beginning of flowering, so we watch the signs even more closely, guess and wait impatiently. At the same time, tens of thousands of people in Lithuania and Latvia are waiting, who, as soon as they hear that “already”, invade the manor and its park.

This year, the first flowers unexpectedly opened just before Easter, when the weather suddenly warmed up at the end of March, so the spectacular explosion of millions of colors can happen earlier. Usually, the peak of the blooming of daffodils and other spring flowers is at the beginning of May, but the flowers are spreading more and more rapidly now, so we don’t lose our vigilance every day,” said the Pakruoj manor team.

The Tulip and Spring Flower Festival already has a loyal following – they are the first to hear about the blooming every year.

“We created the festival in cooperation with recognized Dutch flower breeders and it has already become a beautiful tradition: we become a community that together enjoys the spring transformation and power of nature. This community is growing rapidly every year”, said Kristina Ivanchenko, the creative director of the festival.

More than 250 types of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, hyacinths, plums and other spring flowers will bloom simultaneously in the estate. The great flowering will begin with plums, daffodils, hyacinths, early tulips, and as the festival progresses, the area will be colored by the abundance of various tulips. Millions of flowers create impressive pictures and compositions.

Real spring fun

This year, the festival, which will be held for the third year, welcomes guests not only with carpets of flowers, but also with a real celebration: on weekends, guests will be greeted by orchestras performing works directly among the flowers and performances by dancers and actors. The best Lithuanian bagpipe and mixed instrument orchestras will create a special festival mood by solemnly marching and performing live the most beautiful works of all time for spring.

During the festival, it will be possible to travel back in time and experience the real 19th century in the manor. life of the manor: artisan manufactories, flower restaurants and even flower tours will be open and inviting, Žaldokas will brew beer, and the vodka distiller will distil flavors awarded with gold in the world. The perfumer will prepare the most fragrant oils from the first flowers, the ladies will dress up in antique dresses, the carriages will roll, and the estate mechanics will drive and repair the Baron’s latest collector cars.

The most curious guests will have a unique opportunity to see a real XIX century. the office of the late manor doctor and his secret hobby – the Panopticon. The personal physician of the von der Ropps himself had amassed an exceptional collection of oddities in it.

“The flowers and historical entertainment of the manor are complemented by the energetic spring noise made by the birds every day: flocks of returning starlings are already circling around the hundreds of colorful nests that have been raised in the manor in the traditional way this year on high manes – they are choosing a home for themselves,” said representatives of the manor.
