“The work at the stadium construction site is currently going on with the precision of a Swiss clock, we hope that the first football match will be played here at the beginning of autumn at the latest,” Hanner’s board chairman Arvydas Avulis said in a statement.
According to Darvydas Šernos, the project’s customer, a former professional football player and head of VFA, compared to other European capitals, the football infrastructure in Vilnius is at a low level. Without a favorable business approach to the football situation, it would be difficult to achieve ambitious goals.
According to A. Avulis, a total of 2.5 million Hanner’s and D. Šerno’s investments in the stadium will pay off in 10 years.
On the site of the future stadium, old buildings have already been demolished since the beginning of March, a drainage system has been installed, electrical installation work is ongoing, the ground is being consolidated, and modular buildings are being manufactured.
The stadium will have a real artificial surface, the 300-seat stands will be covered with a roof. The building that will be erected next to it will be equipped with changing rooms, showers, a gym, administrative facilities, convenient access and parking spaces will be provided.
“Hanner-VFA” stadium will be able to be used by “Vilnius Football Academy” and other schools, professional clubs, and others. It will also be possible to organize international competitions.
