However, this Soviet legacy did not disappear without a trace. Until recently, semi-legal life was brewing in those dungeons, and some of them remain and are well-preserved. What happened in the dungeons after regaining independence, what they look like now and what are the requirements for new ones – in the video story.
However, it is not worthwhile to independently search for still surviving, albeit privatized, objects. The municipality, citing the protection of personal data, refused to provide their addresses.

When selling shelters owned by both the state and municipalities, the new owners had to sign a shelter protection and maintenance contract with the county fire rescue board and use the shelter’s premises according to the conditions set out in the contract. In this way, the new owner was obliged to allow the use of the hideout, should such a need arise.

In 2010, a new version of the Law on Crisis Management and Civil Protection came into force, and new legal acts were adopted, regulating the need, purpose and installation requirements of shelters and collective protection structures. According to the current legislation, private owners of hiding places are no longer obliged to allow the use of the hiding place, should such a need arise.
