Proud of authenticity
“The mill is very old. It has been standing for about 300 years – maybe more, maybe less, it is not known exactly. But this is the only mill in Lithuania that is of this age and still works authentically”, S. Sutkauskis starts to tell as soon as he enters the mill.
This mill is recognized as a technical heritage structure. And the authenticity is also emphasized on the packaging, which contains mill-ground grain into flour, bran or semolina. On them are stickers that say “Lithuanian national heritage”.
“That means it was ground this way more than 100 years ago. We are keeping the old traditions,” the miller is proud.

The advantage is not only authenticity, but also naturalness.
“Just today, a woman called me and said that she has been buying our flour for a long time, but she does not understand why it is only valid for 2 months after milling. So I said that if she wanted, I could add chemicals and she would be able to use that flour longer. But then she said no no, no chemicals needed, let them be natural.
And flour lasts longer in stores, about half a year, because chemicals are added there. We don’t support it,” 15 minutes S. Sutkauskis explained.
What is the history of this mill, how did S. Sutkauskis, who was previously engaged in construction, end up in it and why does he only sell products to residents, but not to companies?
