Former “Anties” guitarist P. Ubartas embezzled huge sums from L. Kleiza: he heard the court’s verdict

Linas Kleiza, famous for his basketball achievements, won the case brought by him against the former guitarist of the band “Antis” Petras Ubartas. The Lithuanian Court of Appeal found the latter guilty in the criminal case. Mr. Ubartas was convicted for embezzlement of high-value assets and fraudulent accounting. He will have to pay 17.5 thousand for financial crimes. EUR fine and compensate the victim for the damage and court costs.

The culprit will compensate the victim Linas Kleiza for the damage he suffered, legal costs and 3 thousand. EUR non-pecuniary damage. The convicted person will have to pay a fine of EUR 17,500 to the state. Such a ruling was adopted by the Court of Appeal of Lithuania, s.m. February 27 after examining Mr. Ubart’s appeal and rejecting it. The decision is final.

At the time of the establishment, there was no sign of construction

Linas Kleiza says that the most important thing is that the fraudster received justice.

“These inconveniences took away the joys of the establishment, instead of them there were the worries of litigation. In the end, however, we got justice. And, I hope, we have protected others from this person’s projects”, L. Kleiza was happy with the decision of the appeal court.

The civil dispute turned into a criminal case

According to the victim’s lawyer, Mariaus Barisevičius, this case showed that justice can be achieved even in situations where the word of honor was relied upon in contractual relations.

“When working with acquaintances, formalities sometimes remain in the background. However, the court evaluated the evidence, heard the arguments and the plan of financial maneuvers did not go awry, and the fraud ended with criminal liability for the perpetrator”, M. Barisevičiaus, a lawyer and associate partner of Averus, said in a press release.

He embezzled property and kept fraudulent records

Petras Ubartas, known in the nineties as the guitarist of “Anties”, was found guilty and sentenced for not accounting for the funds received from L. Kleiza for the construction of the house in the company’s documents while he was the director of UAB “Taupių maių fabrikas”.

The court stated that the convicted P.Ubartas embezzled property of high value. In addition, with the aim of concealing the real income, he fraudulently managed the company’s accounting records.

“Thrift House Factory” has been liquidated

The company “Taupiau majes fabrikas” is currently liquidated after the bankruptcy procedure.

Her in 2020 initiated by L.Kleiza with the help of lawyers, seeing that the company is unable to fulfill its obligations to clients. The company was liquidated last February.
