“This method is much more convenient for the buyer, because if he chooses to receive money to the “Mano Rimi” card with “Mano Rimi” money, he will no longer need to print and carry paper receipts, and will not be afraid of losing or forgetting them somewhere in a jacket or jeans pocket. And by saving paper, we will all protect trees together and thus contribute to a greener future”, says Eglė Krasauskienė, Head of Public Relations and Corporate Responsibility of Rimi Lietuva.

If you choose not to print a receipt, you can get refunds for deposit packages directly to the My Rimi app starting May 7. This requires downloading the My Rimi app and creating a My Rimi account. Before delivering the container, the buyer must scan the taromat’s QR code with the “Mano Rimi” app, and after placing the packages and pressing the “Finish” button, the money for the deposit is immediately transferred to the “Mano Rimi” card. The transaction will be viewable in the purchase history in the My Rimi account. If customers choose to print receipts, they will continue to be able to spend them as normal when shopping at Rimi or cashing out at Rimi checkouts.

According to E. Krasauskienė, during the last 12 months, “Rimi” buyers, who added a deposit container, printed over 2.3 million. checks – 1,062 rolls of paper were used for this. If they were extended, we would get a lane of even 276 kilometers. And if customers reduced or abandoned printed receipts, up to 800 kilograms of paper would be saved on average per year.

“We are happy that Rimi’s customers are actively contributing to the circular economy by providing deposit packaging, and in order to improve the recycling rates of beverage packaging, we are constantly looking for solutions to make this process even more convenient and simple,” notes Rimi. Lithuania” head of public relations and corporate responsibility.

E. Krasauskienė reminds that from 2023 at the “Rimi” store of the shopping chain in the district of Northern Town, Vilnius, near the intersection of P. Lukšios and Žirmūnai streets. In August, the only taromat “R1” of the latest generation in Lithuania operates, to which deposit packages can be added in large quantities. Up to 100 cans and PET plastic bottles can be loaded into this taromat through a wide opening at one time, which are scanned and counted by special equipment in less than a minute. There is also a regular “T9” taromat nearby, where glass bottles can be returned.

Vilnius residents value this latest generation taromat for its spacious and convenient parking lot, and it is actively used both by customers returning small amounts of deposit packages, and by residents of more remote parts of the city, who tend to store packages for a longer period of time and add more containers at once.
