“This will be much more convenient for the buyer, because they will no longer need to print and carry paper receipts, and by abandoning them, we will save millions of tons of paper and thus contribute to a more sustainable and green future for all of us,” says Eglė Krasauskienė, head of public relations and corporate responsibility at Rimi Lietuva.

Buyers will be able to refund the money for deposit packages to the “Mano Rimi” customer loyalty card from April – after downloading the “Rimi” app or creating a “Mano Rimi” account. Before the container is delivered, the buyer will have to scan the taromat’s QR code with “Rimi” on it. app, and after placing the packages and pressing the “Finish” button, the money for the deposit will immediately appear on the “Mano Rimi” card. The transaction can be viewed in the purchase history of the “Mano Rimi” account.

In total, there are taromamats in and near the stores of the “Rimi” retail chain in Lithuania. in 2023 buyers returned to them over million. packages: million PET plastic bottles, million cans and glass bottles.

“We are happy that Rimi’s buyers actively provide deposit packaging and thus strongly contribute to the support of the circular economy, and in order to improve the recycling rates of beverage packaging, the retail chain Rimi Baltic is constantly looking for solutions to make this process even more convenient and simpler”, notes the head of public relations and corporate responsibility of Rimi Lietuva.

E. Krasauskienė reminds that it is precisely at the “Rimi Suorių miestelis” store of the “Rimi” shopping chain in Vilnius, adjacent to the intersection of P. Lukšios and Žirmūnai streets from 2023. August, the only R1 taromat of the latest generation in Lithuania, to which deposit packages can be added in large quantities, is operating. Up to 100 cans and PET plastic bottles can be loaded into this taromat through the wide opening at one time, which are scanned and counted by special equipment in less than a minute. There is also a regular T9 vending machine nearby, where glass bottles can be returned.
